NDIS Review: Ensuring Fair Pricing for Music and Art Therapy!
Good news for NDIS participants who benefit from music and art therapy - these supports are here to stay! However, they are currently part of an independent review exploring their efficacy and pricing model. The review had been due to report back in March
2025 but has been extended to April 17 due to the overwhelming response of almost 600 submissions to the review led by Dr. Stephen Duckett AM.
This extension allows for a more robust analysis of the issues and ensures that
the voices of participants, providers, and advocacy groups are thoughtfully heard and taken into account. The goal? To determine appropriate, evidence-based, value-driven pricing that fairly rewards the true worth of these therapeutic supports.
Until the review is completed, NDIS participants will continue to access music and art therapy as part of their plans, while providers can bill at their usual rates under the NDIS Pricing Arrangements. The NDIA assures that the review will
not determine whether these supports remain within the Scheme, meaning music and art therapy will continue to be available to eligible participants. Following submission of the final report, the NDIA will review the findings and provide updated
operational guidance later this year. Any pricing changes will be considered and applied accordingly. For now, participants and providers can confidently continue accessing these creative therapies, knowing they remain a valued part of the
NDIS.
